Petrified Bones Found in Terry County Under Goofy Leads

Dr G W Moreland of Midland unearthed petrified human remains June 25 in far northwest Terry County. Deputies Head Rettmann and Kenneth Tuttle transported the skeleton to DPS lab in Austin. analysis suggests 50 years buried, male of likely Indian or Spanish descent. Authorities to send remains to Texas A&M then Oklahoma A&M for further study.

Bentsen talks energy and stripper wells impact in Terry County

Senator Lloyd Bentsen addressed about fifty Terry Countians on energy policy praising self sufficiency and urging exemption for stripper wells from the energy bill. He warned another oil shutdown would trigger rationing and noted 12 percent of U S oil comes from stripper wells. A separate gov report on animal manure and a golf course trivia note followed.

Terry County to Pick Election Judges and Alternates

Terry County Commissioners Court will select election judges and alternates for the November ballot at the Monday regular meeting. Other items include board of equalization, expense account for an out of town witness, and bids for tennis court lights. Monthly reports from health department, justice of the peace, county clerk, extension agents, and district clerk will be reviewed.
