Kiwanis Announce Junior Olympics at Cub Stadium

The Junior Olympics open Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Cub Stadium for boys and girls with four divisions from midget to senior. Brownfield events supported by Kiwanis Club include sprints relays and field events, with Lub bock July 15 state meet and NA A U rules governing nationwide events.

Nitrogen Boost Urged To Aid Local Crops And Pastures

County Agent Jim Foy warns that nitrogen is the key to immediate crop growth and that many acres suffer from nitrogen deficiency. He notes soils lack nitrogen and that lime requirements and erosion affect lime loss, stressing a sound liming program regardless of nitrogen source for better yields.

Brownfield residents plan to observe the July 4 holiday as many businesses will close. The day is among 1961 holidays recommended by the Retail Trades Committee of the Brownfield Chamber of Commerce. Banks utility offices City Hall and government offices will close.

Brothers Three Install Worshipful Master in Wellington Lodge

The Worshipful Master of Brownfield Lodge 903 Robert Baumgardner visited Wellington Monday night to install David Baumgardner as Wellington's Worshipful Master. Installing marshal was F. G. Baumgardner of Tulsa. The three are brothers.

VFW Brownfield Post Dedicates New Home July 4 Program

The Brownfield Hand Bros. Post 6794 dedicates its new VFW home at 4 p.m. Tuesday as part of a July 4 celebration that includes a barbecue at 5 p.m. bingo at 8 p.m. with a camping trailer prize, and rides for children. 50-star flag presentation and life membership awarded. Credit Club Member To State Meet In Dallas

Brownfield Lions Return From Atlantic City Meet

Two Brownfield families came home from the Atlantic City Lions International convention with 25 000 delegates from more than 72 nations. The event featured bands, an international ball, luncheons and style shows along the boardwalk as Lions and families toured the region.

The Brownfield Chamber of Commerce directorate will meet at 6:30 a.m. on July 12, announced by President Paul Farrar. The July 4 holiday prompted the postponement from the usual first Wednesday meeting to the second Wednesday.
