Terry County ACS Finalizes Groundhog Day Dance Plans

The Terry County Chapter of the American Cancer Society approved plans for its annual groundhog day dance at Brownfield Country Club from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on February 5, priced at 15 dollars per couple, with proceeds to cancer research. A related cancer information session is set for March 3 at Brownfield Regional Medical Center from 6 to 9 p.m., featuring ACS representatives and local physicians.

Another Meeting Planned For PIK Program By Farmers

An overflow Friday meeting in the district courtroom drew about 350 farmers to hear ASCS Executive Director Danny Decker explain Reagan's Payment In Kind plan. Grand Jury Indicts Three in Terry County Caseload

The Terry County Grand Jury handed down five indictments involving three defendants. Jack Dye faces three charges including breaking into a residence to commit murder, threatening Sandra Lewis with a firearm, and abducting her to terrorize. Ben Valentine is indicted for passing a forged check for 150 dollars claimed to be authored by Daisy Rinehart. Johnny Deanda is charged with presenting an altered check for 1081 dollars claimed to be by Lorraine Seavey.

Brownfield Crime Line offers reward for burglary information

The Brownfield Crime Information Inc. will pay a $300 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment in the South Gin burglary. The break in occurred between midnight and 2:00 a.m. Friday January 28, 1983. Entry was gained by breaking a window in the east door. Five cases of Coke and one case of sugar free Dr Pepper were taken.

Reward Offered For Burglary Details At 616 East Broadway

A $300 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of suspects in a residence burglary at 616 E. Broadway where an HBO box was stolen. The break in occurred between 9:00 a.m. and 2:10 p.m. Thursday January 27, 1983. A separate burglary at Shock Tire Company between 6:00 p.m. January 27 and 7:30 a.m. January 28 involved breaking an overhead door window, with $20 to $30 in coins, plus custom wheels and tires stolen.
