The December 1988 Brownfield Police Department report shows 855 calls, up from 797 in December 1987, and 68 arrests, unchanged. Offenses fell to 76 from 77, with four fewer teletype messages. Burglaries led with 25 incidents, including 19 burglaries of motor vehicles, while Thefts and Assaults numbered 16 and 7 respectively.

Terry County Commissioners Court meets Monday at 10 am in the county courthouse with a full docket. The retail business task force, sheriff, county attorney, soil conservation, public assistance, and tire representatives will appear for briefings and actions including bids for three used trucks, insurance matters, and a potential Regional Alternative Dispute Resolution appointment.
Lubbock planners and Texas Tech advocate a Park Way through the campus along the Brownfield Highway route, drawing editorial support from the Avalanche Journal.
