The 121st Judicial District Court convenes Monday with Judge M C Ledbetter presiding. Annotations call for pleas and motions at 10 a.m. and jury duty at 10 a.m. Tuesday as cases proceed including charges of burglary, robbery, arson, theft, and aggravated assault among others.
Partly cloudy skies and mud are forecast through Tuesday with no measurable precipitation. Winds will be variable and gusty in the afternoons.
U S District Court Judge Halbert O Woodward dismissed all charges against A Earl Jones John Thomas and Jon T Farms in the Gaines County fraud case stemming from a Commodity Credit Corporation false statement probe tied to an Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service investigation involving 195 farmers and a 7 5 million illegal cotton price support scheme.
James Forson, owner of James Motor Sales in Brownfield, announces he will run for Constable of Terry County Precinct 1. A former Oklahoma deputy sheriff and Pecos and Lamesa patrolman, Forson has lived in Brownfield area since 1925 and moved there in 1971 with his wife Norman and three children. He campaigns for votes on May 1 and pledges honest, law abiding service.
City Dals set a public hearing for February 5 at 10 a.m. on Tahoka Road parking hazards requested by George Hudspeth. The meeting also covers bids for eight police cruisers, a temporary telephone rate injunction, cotton-producer program on Tahoka Road, and Fire Chief Philip Thompson appointment.
A telegram from Congressmen George Mahon’s office states a Rural Electrification Administration loan of $966,000 to Lyntegar Electric Co-op Inc. to finance service for new customers. Areas served include Terry County.
