Brownfield native Robert Hinkle to produce six films for Universal in 1961

Former Brownfield resident Robert Hinkle, now a Hollywood producer, has completed Ole Rex for Universal-International and secured a six-film contract. He plans Texas locations for future productions, with titles including Prison Wagon and Black Gold, and aims to offer wholesome family entertainment. Hinkle, born July 25, 1930, in Brownfield, has moved into Universal City and pilots his career with his wife and children nearby.

Quartet of Terry youths enlist in Air Force

Four young men from Terry were enlisted into the Air Force last week. Ronney Dewayne Ward of Route 1 Curry Leon Summerlin of 508 North A Robert Leon Sexton of 1311 North Atkins and George Henry Massingill of 915 South Sixth were sent to Lackland Air Force Base for basic training after enlisting at Lubbock.

City Council Accepts Resignation Of O W Schellinger

Brownfield council accepted the resignation Thurs day of councilman O W Slim Schellinger effective immediately. Curtis J Sterling, publisher manager of the News, was appointed to fill the 73 day remaining term and sworn in by Mayor Jess McWherter. Schellinger moved to Lubbock, disqualifying him from office, and praised fellow council members. Other terms expiring include Bowers and Black. SEE NO 3, PAGE 5

Cubs Rally Past Andrews For 57 52 District Win

In a 2 AAA game Friday night Brownfield's Cubs rallied in the third quarter behind 18 points from Knox to defeat Andrews 57 52. Charles Hillis led the Mustangs with 21, while George Sanders added 17 as Andrews battled back but fell short in the final period. The Cubs remain 3 2 in district play and travel to Seminole Tuesday to face the Indians.
