Chamber of Commerce to Mail Ballots For Annual Election of New Directors

The Chamber will mail ballots to members next week listing 10 nominees from which six directors will be chosen for a three year term. Voting closes February 3. The retiring directors are Monk Parker James Harley Dallas Herb Cheshir Curtis Sterling Harry Cornelius Vernon Townes. The current board meets Thursday to elect a new president from the remaining members and discuss 1954 program plans.

Ernest Hyman Wins Third Chesshir Cotton Contest

Freshman Ernest Hyman of Brownfield High School won the $100 first prize in the third Chesshir Cotton Contest. He posted a 782 pounds per acre yield and was sworn in by witnesses. Runner up Lewis Chambliss earned $75 with 706 pounds, while Donald Aldridge took $50 for 647 pounds. Fourth went to Bill Tom Goza despite past Irrigated division wins, after a disrupted plot.
