City Attorney McGowan was authorized to seek a restraining order after Gen-Tel notified on January 8 it would rescind the city telephone franchise within ten days. The emergency session acts followed Gen-Tel’s formal rate increase request dated August 13, 1975.

Weather forecast calls for near normal temperatures this week

The forecast from the National Weather Bureau predicts near normal temperatures with little precipitation through Saturday. A cold front moved in Tuesday and will keep temperatures cooler until a new push of cool air today. Nights will be chilly with mostly clear skies and light to moderate winds.

Rev Amos Garza Becomes Brownfield Spanish Assembly Pastor

The Rev Amos Garza arrived in Brownfield as pastor of the Spanish Assembly of God Church about three months ago after serving as associate pastor in Lubbock. Born in San Benito, he is the son of Rev and Mrs Ruben Garza of Lubbock, now in Guatemala, with three brothers and one sister. He grew up in San Antonio, attended Harlandale High and Lubbock High, and graduated from Latin American Bible Institute in El Paso. He has been a licensed minister for four years and is part of Gulf Latin American District Council. He also evangelizes part time, holding meetings in Roswell Artesia Carlsbad and San Antonio. He met his wife Lydia at Bible School. they wed in Abilene. He is active in the Ministerial Alliance and District Association of Evangelists of the Gulf District and lists fishing and museums among hobbies.
