Meadow girl injured in horse riding accident
An 11-year-old Meadow girl, Autumn Day, was thrown from a horse Sunday afternoon and remains in critical condition at University Medical Center in Lubbock after an operation. The incident, described as an accident, involved possible head injuries from the fall or a horse kick, with no investigation planned. Day, a Meadow Junior High seventh grader, is the daughter of Ricky and Cindy Day.

Brownfield student Pauda named to All-State Band
James Pauda a Brownfield High School junior earned a spot in the Association of Texas Small School All-State Band. He competed against students from El Paso Amarillo Odessa and Lubbock as a trumpeter. The ATSSB Convention in San Antonio runs Feb 9 12 with a three day rehearsal and a noon performance on Feb 12 at the Scottish Rite Building. Pauda is 17 and drum major for the Spirit of the Plains marching band, son of Jesse Sr. and Charlotte Pauda.
