Commissionors approve Grievance Committee actions

Chamber Banquet Set With Wyatt as Speaker Under Big Top

Kenneth Wyatt of Tulsa will deliver the after dinner address at the Chamber of Commerce annual banquet Saturday at 7 p.m. in Brownfield High School Commons. The event honors Outstanding Citizen of 1989 with a chicken fried steak meal. Tickets are sold by Chamber directors and at the Chamber office. Wyatt, a retired Methodist minister and artist, has painted Western scenes and portraits and has works given to Reagan and Queen Elizabeth.

Auditor says BRMC hospital had a steady survival year

Larry Anderson presented Mason Warner’s audit to the Terry Memorial Hospital District board. He noted a 1700 day drop in 1989 patient days, a 30 percent decline compared with other area hospitals, but highlighted gains in Emergency Room use, the Special Care Unit, and outpatient services. He discussed Medicare fee schedule changes and rural benefits, and announced Dr. Carl Smith as the new Chief of the Medical Staff as the meeting adjourned.

Wagner named electrical superintendent at BMP&L

Jackie D. Butch Wagner was named superintendent of the Brownfield Municipal Power and Light Department at a City Council meeting. He replaces Harvie George who retires at month end after a long BMP&L career beginning in 1985 as a lineman and later foreman, with a brief contractor stint in Arkansas.

Photography Fun Class for Novice Shooters

Novice shutterbugs are invited to a four session Photography Fun Class organized by the fun classes wing of the Education Task Force. Starting this Thursday at 8 p.m. at 1107 E Harris the course covers equipment composition lighting landscape and people and how to use manual settings and film. Brownfield-SP College Class Registration Set at High School

Brownfield Division of South Plains College will register Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. in West entrance Room 21 at Brownfield High School. Courses are three semester hours each, start Monday Jan 15, with spring break March 19–23 and final exams May 7–9. Three semester hours cost 69 dollars plus books. computer courses add a 15 dollar lab fee. Courses include ACC 232-30 Principles of Accounting II, CIS 133-30 Microcomputer Application, MTMG 237-30 Personnel.

Spag Officials To Meet On Rural 9 1 1 Addressing

Mike Pedigo of the South Plains Association of Governments will attend a special Terry County Commissioners Court session at 2 p m this Thursday. Local officials will discuss rural addressing for the 9 1 1 emergency response systems in the commissioners room at the Terry County Courthouse.
