1954 Brownfield traffic crashes second most costly
The 1954 Brownfield year saw 105 reported accidents with an estimated 42123 in damages placing it as the second most dangerous on local streets. Men suffered far more crashes than women and noon to 1 pm was the peak accident hour with 12.4 percent.

Brownfield's 1934 building activity hits 1,076,764 with 186 permits and 115,725 in estimated work. Ninety new homes totaled 844,050. non residential work 90,479 from 21 permits. December adds several brick veneer and frame residences on Buckley, Repute, Oak, Tahoka, and Cactus Lane.

Sammy Baugh to Headline 14th Young Man Banquet
Sammy Baugh will speak at the 14th annual Young Man of the Year banquet by Brownfield Jaycees. A Texas Sports Hall of Fame member, Baugh played 16 seasons for the Washington Redskins and now coaches at Hardin-Simmons University. Tickets are 1.75 dollars, available from Jaycee members. Bernie Howell will provide dinner music and a Texas Tech singer will perform.

Funeral services were held at for J. A. Parks tah Tokio community farmer since 1909. J L Pritchard of Artesia officiated and burial followed at Terry County Memorial cemetery. Survivors include wife two daughters two brothers two sisters and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were J T Anderson G J L Sullivan Reg Martin Jim Mackey Clyde Trout and Ormal Pippin.
