County Officials Sworn In Thursday in Terry County
Judge Herb Chesshir swore in 10 new Terry County officials and a new District Judge Ray Anderson in a Thursday ceremony at 9:00 AM. Officials sworn included Commissioners Harvey Smith and Delton Gregg, Sheriff Ralph Murry, County and District Attorney Dwayne Pruitt, Tax Assessor Paul Brock, Constable Roy Harbison, and four deputy sheriffs Wayne Anderson Harold Matteson Johnny Garcia and Randy Smith. The session opened with a devotional by W H Bill Penland, then bonds were approved and the sheriff spoke to the crowd.

New Sheriff Presents Bonds at Terry County Meeting
The Terry County Commissioners opened the New Year with a special meeting to approve bonds for newly sworn in county officials. Quiet New Year Weekend in Brownfield Police Beat
Brownfield saw a quiet New Year holiday with two minor wrecks involving a 1971 Toyota, a 1976 Ford pickup, and other minor damage. A burglary at B and B Backhoe and theft of twenty three cases of beer at Casino Club were reported. Fires and five fireworks calls also occurred amid holiday activity. Ralph Murry pledged support to the court and the new sheriff provided updates.

City Accepting Applications for Housing Rehabilitation Program
Brownfield invites residents of the Community Development target area to apply for housing rehabilitation under the CD Program. Eligible owner occupied homes may receive up to 5000 dollars. tenants may receive up to 2000 dollars to landlords under Section 8. Contact Larry McCullough at 637-4547 for details. Permits Show Increase In December In Brownfield
Building permits in December in Brownfield rose from the prior two months with the Tohoka Road Church of Christ and two new home permits. Total for December reached $658,600, up from November’s 426,500 and October’s 453,010, while four permits contributed only 6,550 to a 652,050 swing. Additional permits covered mobile homes, a mini storage complex, and a foundation slab, with the church building driving the jump by about 400,000 and homes adding 160,000.
