Airman 1st Class William J. McGowan III of Brownfield serves as an air transportation specialist with the Provide Promise humanitarian airlift to Bosnia Herzegovina. He coordinates meals inflight supplies and loading for airland missions and supports daily C 130 operations delivering food and vital gear through airdrops and airland routes. The U N aided effort started July 3, 1992 and aims to reach isolated enclaves inaccessible by ground convoys.

Former Brownfield Resident Dies in Oil Well Accident
A 42 year old former Brownfield man Margarito Grimaldo died after the head of a Chevron USA oil well collapsed and struck him while he covered the well head. The incident occurred between 9 15 and 9 30 am on Investor Royalty Lease land near the Hockley Terry county line. Grimaldo was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock by AeroCare and pronounced dead at 10 50. No other injuries were reported.
