Altura Energy formed to merge Amoco and Shell assets

Amoco Corporation and Shell Oil Company sign definitive documents to create Altura Energy Ltd, a limited partnership that will operate the combined oil and gas assets in the Permian Basin across West Texas and Southeast New Mexico. Ira and Jean Seaton have long shaped their Terry County community through service and warmth. After World War II service, Seaton returned to Brownfield where he handed out hot buttered popcorn weekly at the local bank lobby. Married in 1947, the Seatons raised a son, Chris, now a minister in Vidalia, Georgia. He and his wife reflect on their decades at Brownfield State Bank and the Texas Highway Department. The Seatons remain active at Shady Oaks Church of God where Seaton directs the choir and Mrs. Seaton serves as secretary, while Seaton’s candy distribution endears him to area children as “The Candy Man.”
