BHS Choir members advance to state meet

Brownfield High School choir students Laura Johnson Lori Rodriguez and Joe Howard qualified for the state competition after performing at District XVI Solo and Ensemble at Coronado High School in Lubbock. Director Cheryl Davis noted Class I is the hardest and judges rate performances accordingly.

Fitzgerald earns All District honors in girls basketball

Brownfield senior Arlene Fitzgerald is named to District 3-3A girls basketball team after averaging 10.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game for a 13-16 team. She also stood out with 47 steals and 20 assists, while junior Charla Durham earns honorable mention.

Oak Grove Elementary Principal Named Finalist for Administrator of the Year

Chuck Hargrave, principal at Oak Grove Elementary, is among three finalists for Administrator of the Year chosen by the Association of Texas Professional Educators. The winner is to be announced in March during the state convention in Houston. The Terry County Historical Commission plans a Texas Independence commemoration at 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, in the Terry County Courthouse lobby with a toast. The Texas Declaration of Independence was signed at Washington-on-the-Brazos on March 2, 1836.
