Oleta Toliver Named Outstanding Citizen of the Year
Oleta Toliver was named Brownfield Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Citizen of the Year at the annual banquet before about 500 people in the high school commons. A Brownfield High School retiree, she received the honor from last year’s honoree, Don Hendley, who outlined her life and accomplishments.

Cody Morrow won grand champion and Stacy Givens took reserve in the Wellman Junior Livestock Show featuring 36 animals across five classes including Duroc and Poland China varieties. Brownfield FFA Instructor Robert Becker judged. Kathy Neal distributed prizes.

Brownfield Police Arrest 10 For Public Intoxication
Brownfield police reported ten arrests for public intoxication between Friday and Tuesday. The department also noted break ins and thefts including a stolen car stereo from a 1970 Ford Mustang on North A Street valued at 180 dollars and clothing worth 350 dollars from a North 9th Street residence. Two firearms were reported missing from a residence on East Tate Street. A back door was left open and the gun case keys were inside. Shock Tire Co. was broken into with 1408.86 dollars taken from a money bag. Friday damage included a trampoline cut with about 300 dollars in loss. The Spudnut Shop reported about 300 dollars in cash and checks missing Friday.

Terry Junior Stock Show Scheduled
The 1983 Terry County Junior Livestock Show opens at 1 p.m. with weigh-ins for 260 animals led by Dr. Tim Faulkern berry and Bob Dumas. Judging begins 8 a.m. Friday at the Terry County Livestock Barn, lambs first, followed by swine and steers, with Terry Phillips and Spencer Tanksley as judges.
