Officers Urge Registration for Hospital Board Election
J. D. Akers says voters must register by March 2 to participate in the April 1 hospital board election. Registration closes March 2 and reopens May 7 after the first primary. Terry County Junior Livestock Show Opens Today
The Terry County Junior Livestock Show opens today at the County Livestock Barn northwest of the city. Weigh-ins for swine are 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and calves weigh-in begins at 8 p.m. The show is sponsored by the Terry County Young Farmers and Brownfield Jaycees with local merchant support. Judging for swine Friday at 2 p.m., lambs Saturday at 1 30 p.m., calves at 2 p.m., with a swine auction at 4 p.m. Friday.

Fire Rages Through Stages Home Near Brownfield
A Tuesday afternoon blaze engulfed the M. T. Staggs residence nine miles north of Brownfield. Flames, fed by a cold wind, trapped occupants as the son tried to rescue his mother from the living room. An initial blast was heard, possibly from the water heater, as the fire broke out in the east end.

Brownfield School Board Approves Purchases Calendar
At Monday's meeting Brownfield Schools approved three new pickups for the agricultural department and accepted the 1972 73 school calendar. Margaret Hempel was named Distrib utive Education director for the remainder of the year. Enrollment sits at 3,204 with attendance at 94.21 percent. The board opened bids for the pickups with Modern Chevrolet of Lubbock the low bidder.
