The aim is earlier cost effective care for common childhood illnesses and prevention of complications from diabetes and high blood pressure. Fun class western dance lessons in March

Community Justice Council Advances Plan at County Courthouse

The 121st Judicial District Community Justice Council met at the Terry County Courthouse to advance a community justice plan due March 1 to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Members include Yoakum and Terry County officials, area mayors, and legislators with plans to add tough alternatives to incarceration and outline local funding priorities. The council will reconvene February 22 at 1:30 p.m. in Brownfield to continue work.

Moisture shortages loom as Terry County awaits more rain

County officials report scattered rainfall across Terry County with totals from 2 to 1/2 inches. ASCS director Danny Decker warns more rain is needed before planting to allow extensive land preparation while noting current underground moisture remains very low and crops are not yet in fields.

Local banks and courthouse close for Presidents Day observance

Brownfield State Bank and First National Bank will be closed Saturday and Monday, with Terry County Courthouse and Brownfield News closed Monday. Normal hours resume Tuesday.
