More than 400 entries from local shows begin with a 10 a.m. weigh-in at the Terry County Livestock Barn. Judging starts Friday at 9 a.m. with steers, then lambs, gilts, and barrows. Rex Jones of San Angelo to judge steers and lambs. Gary Patterson of Farwell swine. Rick McKay of Turkey showmanship. Officials include Kevin Willis and J Rowden as co-superintendents. The Brownfield High School Student Council, led by Patricia Thomas and under sponsor Gina Kelly, was elected Vice-President School of District Five. The group has earned a Sweepstakes School award for five straight years and runs drug education, energy and conservation projects, Cub Buddy, and charitable drives for St. Jude’s, Cystic Fibrosis, Special Olympics, and Ronald McDonald House, plus a yearly scholarship.

Stabbing leaves Brownfield man hospitalized after weekend incident
Armando Deleon, 20, of Brownfield, was stabbed three times in the left upper torso Friday at 10 45 p m in the 400 block of West Lake Street. He was found by officers in an alley and later moved to University Medical Center in Lubbock in serious condition.
