Litter on the Moon and Local Civic Alerts

February brings thoughts of spring while a Beautify Texas Council statistic shows per mile litter on highways. A Gallup survey notes men litter more than women and younger adults more than older. Neil Armstrong and Aldrin left over 1 million dollars of gear on the moon adding to 16 tons of lunar debris. Brownfield High hosts a band and choir concert as listed on Page 2.

Brownfield High School Winter Concert Planned

Brownfield High School Music Department schedules a 7 30 p m winter concert in the school auditorium with Fred Smith and John Garrison directing the band and Dr George Amberson guest conducting the choir Neil Campbell leads the choirs and the program features A Cappella Choir Madrigals and concert band selections with an intermission between halves.

Bryant Resigns From First National Bank for Muleshoe State Bank

Jess Bryant vice president at First National Bank Brownfield resigns effective Feb 13 to take a similar post with Muleshoe State Bank starting Feb 16. He began at First National in 1952, rose to vice president, married to Bobbie Duke, with two daughters, and has long civic involvement including Kiwanis Club and youth baseball programs. He holds banking affiliations and studied at SMU Western Graduate School.

Farmers To Meet Thursday About Cotton And Sorghum Talks

All farmers are invited to a meeting on February 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Party House. The Terry County Grand Jury sat Wednesday and Thursday returning true bills on 15 of 22 cases. Brownfield City Council buys pickup and radios

The Brownfield City Council approved a low bid for a new pickup for the electric department at 1743 from Paul Jones Chevrolet and accepted GE for ambulance radio at 926 and fire truck radio at 711 with freight. An election for mayor and two council seats was set for April 7. Wayne Simms named presiding judge with Earl Jones as alternate.
