Brownfield approves plan for new swimming complex project
Brownfield City Council heard a progress report from Parkhill Smith Cooper on a planned swimming park. The firm outlined a bid schedule with bids opening Feb 27 2007 and council review March 1 2007, aiming to start work in April 2007 and finish by April 2008 for Alltel broadband rollout in summer 2008. The design emphasizes zero entry, a Mushroom spray feature, Water Whoopee, a single water slide, a one meter diving area and a Lazy River, with parking to reuse existing lots. The project promises a larger water area than the current pool and roles for lifeguards and staff, though no parking layout is finalized yet. Alltel announced high speed EVDO service to Brownfield and nearby areas, with plans starting at $59.99 monthly for unlimited use with qualifying voice plans.
