Applications for emergency farm loans for losses caused by drought, wind, rain, flood, hail are being accepted at the Farmers Home Administration office in 201 E. Hill. Terry County is among 29 Texas counties named eligible for loans to cover part of actual production losses. Loans may cover up to 80 percent of actual losses.

Goodfellows Plan Food and Toy Distribution This Christmas
The Brownfield Goodfellows collect toys at the fire station and will assemble Christmas boxes Monday morning. They will deliver gifts and food to 220 families with 700 children on Christmas Eve. Miranda Found Guilty of Aggravated Assault in District Court
District Court judge Ray Anderson presided over two cases this week. Felipe Miranda faced a seven man five woman jury that deliberated three hours seven minutes before convicting him of aggravated assault and, after an 18 minute jury phase, sentencing him to 10 years in the Texas Department of Corrections for the Aug. 2 incident involving a Brownfield man. Joe F. Ortiz Jr. appeared and pled true to a motion to revoke probation. he was continued on probation but must serve 30 days in Terry County jail and pay $200 in additional attorney fees.
