Farmers to benefit from 400000 Water Board loan

The Texas Water Development Board approved a 400000 loan commitment to the South Plains Underground Water Conservation District through its Agricultural Water Conservation Loan Program. Director Jason Coleman says the program aids producers with high efficiency irrigation and helps fund precipitation enhancement, with borrowers charged one percent above the board loan rate.

Armory proposal and district loans on Brownfield council agenda

Brownfield City Council will review a lease purchase plan with the Texas Military Facilities Commission for the National Guard Armory and update roof repairs at the Brownfield Intermediate Sanction Facility. The session includes an engineering services letter agreement, an underground pipe project on TDCJ property, an interlocal seal coat pact, and a closed session on pending windpower litigation.

Fire at Brownfield Magneto and Electric Under Investigation

Fire crews responded within five minutes after a deputy sheriff alerted crews to a fire at Brownfield Magneto and Electric on 1801 Lubbock Road. The building was vacant, no injuries reported, and Chief Marvin Dawson said the cause remains unknown as investigators from John Trischitti continue.

Two Fatal Rollover Accidents In Terry County

Two people died in separate one vehicle rollovers near Brownfield Texas. A four year old, Franz Loewen of Tohoka, was killed on U S 380 west of Brownfield when his pickup rolled after hitting an icy spot. His father Johan Loewen was driving with Franz strapped in the middle seat. A second fatality, 16 year old Reann Davis of Meadow, died in a rollover on FM 303 about 19.3 miles northwest of Brownfield while driving a Mercury Cougar and being ejected from the vehicle.

Goodfellows Seek Toy and Food Donations for Christmas

Brownfield residents can donate toys canned goods and cash for the Goodfellows program at City Hall. Gifts will be delivered Saturday December 23 starting at 7 a.m. from the Terry County Barn with each family receiving a toy and a food box. Cash gifts go to Mary West or Mary Jo Collins at City Hall before December 22.

90 Children Still Need Holiday Gifts This Christmas

Donations of gifts and money are still needed for this year's Christmas Tree program per Children's Protective Services Board Member Ann Willis. Ninety youngsters up to age 12 require gifts, with donations due by Wednesday, Dec. 20 in Willis' office at the Terry County Courthouse. Toy deliveries will occur on Saturday, Dec. 23.
