The Senior Menus for December 17 to 21 list daily meals including stuffed peppers, Christmas bake sale items, fried chicken, stew, and chicken strips with sides. The XYZ Annual Christmas Bake Sale is set for Tuesday, December 18 with pies and goodies for sale, while the XYZ Club seeks new members for 2008 at 101 S. D. St., call 637-7603.
The Terry County Justice Courts handled 192 traffic misdemeanors and 77 non-traffic misdemeanors in November. Forty-nine non-traffic and 147 traffic misdemeanors were dismissed. Sixteen traffic misdemeanors were dismissed after a driving safety course, 24 after deferred disposition, eight after proof of financial responsibility. Three cases were appealed. Two civil cases were filed including one small claims suit and one forcible entry and detainer. The court issued 10 felony complaints and 10 arrest warrants for felonies and class A and B misdemeanors. Revenue totaled 40 035 dollars.
Terry County Grand Jury handed down 12 indictments involving 10 subjects on charges from driving while intoxicated to possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility. Names and charges released include Adolfo Trevino Marroquin with DWI and bonds. Rachel Cardona Martinez with two possession counts and $5,000 bonds each. Roman Jessie Silva with cocaine possession and $5,000 bond. Cassey D. Alcorta with cocaine possession and $2,000 bond. Scotty Ray Dyer with two burglary counts and $25,000 bonds each. Four subjects had unreleased names due to active warrants. one indictment was delayed.
Time is running out to donate to the Christmas Tree for Kids and the Brownfield Goodfellows. Toy donations are accepted at the Terry County Law Enforcement Center on Tohoka Road. Cash donations to the Christmas Tree for Kids go to the Terry County Clerk’s Office, Room 105, Terry County Courthouse. Food and toy donations for the Brownfield Goodfellows may be left in barrels at United Supermarket, Gebo’s, NAPA Auto Parts, and Dollar General. Cash gifts to Brownfield Goodfellows are payable at Brownfield City Hall to Mary West, Mary Jo Collins, or Kelley Taber.
