Letter to Santa From a School Desk in Our Town
The piece is a playful letter from a student requesting a week of rest in a hospital room with privacy and two gold edged signs for visitors. She asks for knee high boots and a miniskirt to pretend to be a high school student for a month, and for various whimsical wishes such as traffic lights turning green and memory of ZIP codes. It ends noting a Powder Puff Football Game between junior and senior girls at 7 p.m. to raise funds for Student Council.

Hospital Plans Discussed by Terry Memorial Board
Atmark Atkinson of Lubbock and Charles Dunn of Dallas outlined rough hospital plans to the Terry Memorial Hospital District board led by Robert Baumgardner. They reviewed carpet use for noise reduction and upkeep benefits, three room layouts, and cheaper plumbing for bath adjacent to bedrooms. The group noted rising building costs from 1948 to 1968 and the need to approve carpeting with Hill Burton. Pat McMillan said Part Two is underway with Part Three due by Jan. 15, three months ahead of schedule. An annual audit showed net income of 33733.21, and a name change proposal to Terry Memorial Hospital was tabled.
