Last Piece of Area Boll Weevil Eradication Puzzle in Place
LUBBOCK The last piece of the boll weevil eradication puzzle is in place on the High Plains. Growers in eight counties approved a 1.2 million acre eradication zone by a 2996 to 732 vote and will pay 12 per acre for irrigated land and 6 per acre for dryland fields to fund a five year program costing 105 million dollars. Control could begin next fall under cooperative efforts with the Texas Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation.
