Cubs endure tough run in Gene Messer Shootout
Brownfield Cubs went 1-2 in the Frenship high school tournament in Wolfforth, beating 5A Abilene High 80-64 before losing to Amarillo Palo Duro 105-72 and El Paso Irvin 55-54. Colton Burran led with 23 points in the opener, while Justin Mason powered Palo Duro with 27. The team stands 6-2, and coach Cantrell says the experience against 4A and 5A opponents was valuable as Brownfield heads to Granbury this weekend.
