Goodfellows Prepare Holiday Drive for Brownfield Families
City Manager Dick Fletcher leads the annual Goodfellows effort to provide toys and food to more than 200 Brownfield families. Donations of new or used toys, canned goods, and cash are sought with drop offs at the fire station and City Hall. Delivery events on December 21 and Christmas Eve require volunteers and coordination with local churches and pastors. For details contact City Hall.

District Court hands multiple prison terms in local cases
In 121st District Court, Juan Cabrera received 15 years for aggravated possession with intent to deliver and a $1000 fine. Bobby Turnbow and Jack Boyce Ruark got 10 year terms for theft of property valued over $750. Julian Cabrera aka Joe Garcia, Sergio Infante, and Fredrico Villegas faced five, five, and ten year outcomes respectively, with probation terms and fines. Edward Harned received 10 years probation after a jury found indecency with a child, plus jail weekends and strict conditions. Brownfield DPS leader earns lieutenant bars in promotion
Lamar Beckworth, Brownfield area sergeant for the Department of Public Safety, was promoted to lieutenant in Austin. He will relocate to the Garland regional DPS office late December and command an urban district including McKinney Sherman Paris Terrell and other Dallas area cities. Beckworth, a Longview native who joined DPS in 1978, has led area 5A5 with 12 troopers and other personnel.

Brownfield Choir to Present Christmas Concert Monday
Brownfield High School choir groups will stage a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church auditorium. Choir Director Cheryl Davis invites all community members, with New Horizons performing traditional carols and the concert choir offering winter pieces. The a cappella group will sing multilingual pieces, the girls choir a Latin Jewish-themed number, and the boys choir will perform a final piece.
