District Judge Kelly Moore urged Terry County commissioners to consider a courthouse renovation. He said the current facility is inadequate for a growing caseload and the plan is overdue, with timing uncertain but likely in the future.
Brownfield City Council will meet Thursday at 7 30 a m for a regular session with a public hearing on the proposed 2006 2007 tax rate. A second hearing is planned for Sept 7. The rate was set at 49 0030 per 100 and will take effect Oct 1 along with the budget. Also on the agenda is a professional services agreement with Parkhill Smith Cooper for a water park project. A closed session will cover personnel matters.
The 46th Terry County Old Settlers Reunion drew 193 attendees at the American Legion Hall including classes of 1940s and 1950s. Guests and officials spoke, prizes were awarded, and 100 year old Lara Brown plus 94 year old Lal Copeland were honored with $50 scratch pads.
