The Terry County Ministerial Alliance elected officers at a special meeting on August 22. Jack Garrett became president, Don McWhorter vice president, and Rev. Franklin Brown secretary treasurer. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to Rev. Albert McDowell and Rev. Charles Prince. The next meeting is September 4 at Joe's Restaurant. All county ministers are invited.
Patricia Ruth Thurman and Sterling Douglas Cox united in marriage at 4 p.m. Sunday in the First United Methodist Church. The ceremony featured pink décor, candle trees, and a bouquet with orchids. The couple will reside in Abilene with out-of-town guests from Plains, Denver City, Hale Center, Ballinger, Houston, McCame, Brownwood, and Searcy Arkansas.
Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Jones observed their 50th anniversary with a Sunday reception at their home 521 S. 7th St. The couple married in Sulphur Springs on August 25, 1918. They have three children, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The bride wore a white chiffon gown and carried white roses. reception was at Oscar Rose Recreation Center followed by a honeymoon to East Texas and New Orleans. LaBrenz works for Good Meat Packing Company. both graduates of local high schools.
