Brownfield resident Floyd Camp, a Normandy invasion veteran, was awarded the Medal of the Jubilee of Liberty by the Regional Council of Lower Normandy. He also received a certificate honoring his courage and sacrifices in securing freedom for future generations.
Two thefts were reported this week to the Terry County Sheriff's Department. A six inch grinder valued at $50 and a 3/8 inch drill worth $35 were reported missing by Billy Tidwell from a barn seven miles north of Brownfield on U.S. 62/82. An Emerson four head VCR valued at $240 was reported missing by Sharon Waldron from a residence near FM 303 north of Brownfield.
Local attorney Jimmy Hammons, practicing since 1982, runs a general law practice in Brownfield with a history at Hale and Hammons and now solo. He and his wife Fim Welch, a former court reporter, have two children and emphasize a close community, open 8 to 5 weekdays at 305A West Broadway.
The XYZ Club offers a five day meal plan. Monday features hamburger steak with brown gravy spinach home baked bread tater tots apple rings and yellow cake. Tuesday serves fried chicken with cream gravy green beans hot rolls mashed potatoes tossed salad and Dutch apple cobbler. Wednesday presents Texas Goulash and chicken spaghetti white beans pickled beets buttered bread mixed greens cornbread and chocolate cake. Thursday offers chicken fried steak country gravy Italian beans home baked bread cream potatoes green salad and butterscotch pudding. Friday features barbecue brisket pinto beans pickles and onions buttered bread potato salad cornbread and Jello with fruit.
The Brownfield Senior Citizens at 500 W Bridges present a weekly menu for Ragg 25 through 29. Monday offers Barbecue Polish Sausage with sides. Tuesday features Carne Guisada and Ejotes Guisados with Mexican rice and fruit salad. Wednesday serves Fried Chicken Strips with mashed potatoes and greens. Thursday includes Brisket with vegetables and fruit. Friday lists Owen Fried Fish with potato salad and cornbread.
