Sales tax rebates dip in Brownfield Meadow and Terry County

July rebates show Brownfield at 109237.12 dollars down 10.45 percent from August 2005, Meadow at 635.59 dollars down 9.79 percent, and Terry County at 40855.24 dollars down 16.83 percent. Year-to-date Brownfield and Terry County rise while Meadow climbs 6.82 percent. statewide June sales total 1.6 billion, up 10.2 percent.

Old Settlers celebration set Saturday

The 46th Annual Terry County Old Settlers celebration will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Brownfield American Legion Hall on the Seagraves Highway. Terry County Clerk Ann Willis will oversee the event, a fourth Saturday in August tradition since 1961, with attendees from Terry County and beyond. The reunion costs $12 per person and will be catered by River Smith's, featuring door prizes and recognitions for long marriages, longtime residents, and far-traveled guests. BIDCorp to hold meeting Monday

The Brownfield Industrial Development Corporation BIDCorp Board of Directors will meet in regular session at 4 p.m. Monday Aug. 21. Agenda includes approving Financial Report and Funds on Hand for June and July 2006 and Sales Tax Income Report for July and August 2006. Consider adopting 2006 2007 budget and removal of buildings on Lubbock Highway. Discussion of current activities.

BRMC Board to Meet in Regular Session Monday

The Brownfield Regional Medical Center Board of Directors will gather for a regular session at 7 p.m. on Monday August 21 to review the hospital district budget for 2006 2007 and to consider the tax rate as the primary agenda item. The Administrator’s Report by Mike Click and the Medical Staff Report by Dr Shane ord are also slated for discussion.

Alamo Center to reopen after school program push

City officials heard Jackson discuss a volunteer plan to keep the Alamo Event Center open afternoons evenings and weekends for local youths.
