Summer vacation ends as Brownfield School announces first day of classes on August 24 with prior registration. High school students register August 16-17, seniors 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and juniors 1 to 4 p.m. Sophomores and freshmen register August 17, with sophomores at 8:30 a.m. and freshmen to follow.

BRMC board approves room rate increase for BRMC
The Brownfield Medical Center district will not raise taxes this year but will raise hospital room rates effective Sept 1. The 1983-84 budget totals 5,057,694 up about two percent from last year and was approved unanimously minus two members absent. A local blood drive sponsored by BRMC and United Blood Services runs 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 901 Tohoka Road.

Gomez Baptist Church Celebrates 80th Year in Gomez
