Montgomery ends BHS tennis coaching career

One of Brownfield High School’s most successful coaches, Virdie Montgomery, leaves town to become Claude Texas high school and junior high principal and athletic director. Three Die In Fiery Accident Near Brownfield

A Saturday crash on U.S. Highway 385, 1.8 miles north of Brownfield, killed three people and injured two others. Crane couple Herbert Currie and Dorothy Currie died at the scene and Brownfield resident Delbi Green was treated for minor injuries. Amy Jo Pilmer, 17, was airlifted to Lubbock Methodist in satisfactory condition while Currie’s widow died later. The crash involved a dirt-road turn into the highway, a fire in a motorhome, and a head-on collision with a suburban. the investigation continues.
