Brownfield Police recovered guns knives camcorders a coin collection Nin tendo games and a comic book collection after an anonymous tip. A video inside a camcorder identified the owner whose home was burglarized and vandalized while on vacation. Four juveniles were apprehended in connection with the case.
Brownfield officials announced the Intermediate Sanction Facility has clearance to accept prisoners by Wednesday after a second inspection by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Nine issues were identified earlier, eight corrected. doors remain to be fixed, possibly replaced with sliding units. City Manager Dick Fletcher dismissed sale rumors, saying the city will operate the facility for 12 years to benefit Brownfield.

As of Friday morning 165 voters had cast absentee ballots at the county clerk's office for the upcoming water conservation district election. Absentee voting runs 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Aug. 4, with Aug. 8 election day in the county clerk's office only. The vote forms the South Plains Underground Conservation Water District and selects a five member board. Precinct 1 candidates are Doyle Moss Ronald Luker and Brent Hogue. Precinct 2 candidates are Matt Hogue and Dirk Aaron. Precinct 3 candidate is Dan Day. Precinct 4 candidates are Scott Hamm Russell Lepard and Lewis Waters.
The Terry Pioneers meet Terry County for the 32nd Pioneer Reunion at 10 a.m. August 22 in the American Legion Hall. Dues are $3 for membership. H-Bar-C will cater the meal. attendees should bring a vegetable, salad, or dessert.
