First Fatality Recorded When Lamesa Killed
Marion F. Mings, 804 N. 2nd St., Lamesa, died at Brownfield General Hospital from a brain stem injury after a two vehicle crash at Main and 4th streets. The 62 year old, driving a borrowed truck, failed to stop for a red signal and collided with a larger eastbound truck, flipping the other vehicle. Mings lived with his sister Lillie Mings and had been transported to Lamesa for funeral services pending.

George Named To West Texas Chamber Development Committee
State Rep Jesse T George of Morton and Terry County was named to the West Texas Chamber of Commerce Industrial Development Committee. The first meeting is set for August 11 in Wichita Falls as growth in new industry and payrolls drives the Texas economy.
