Levo Elected District Governor at Snyder Lions Convention

R F Bob Levo 1713 East Reppto was elected District Governor of District 2-12 by 64 Lions Clubs at the Snyder convention. Levo will assume July 1 for a year, defeating Hoyce McMurtry of South Plains Lions Club Lubbock. He has long Lions service, two married daughters, and works for General Telephone. The Brownfield Noon Lions Club sponsored Wellman Lions Club charter on April 5.

Ministers Breakfast Honors Terry County Soil Stewards

Trustees announce a 7:30 a m breakfast at the Holiday House to honor all Terry County ministers as Soil Stewardship Week begins May 16 23. Bids Sought To Raze West Ward School

Brownfield trustees hear final high school estimate and approve buying two 48 passenger buses at 5990 each. They amend the School Lunch Program policy and plan a May 9 dedication with Senator Tower. Bids are sought May 17 for the old West Ward School demolition.

Driver Training Class Set For May at District Court

Community Action Agency will offer a driver training class Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday May 4 5 6 in the District Courtroom at the Terry County Courthouse. Classes start at 7 p.m. and will be taught in both English and Spanish by a Texas Highway Patrol officer from Lubbock. The course is free and open to anyone seeking more driver training.

Brownfield FFA Wins Two Firsts at Agriscience Contest

Brownfield FFA captures first in dairy products and poultry judging at the 44th annual Texas Tech Vocational Agriculture Judging Contests. Billy Jowers led dairy products with top individual score, Terry Thrash tied for high point in poultry, as 1,600+ FFA members from 156 schools competed in 10 divisions.

Drug Program Planned For BHS Students

Brownfield High School students will attend a drug program titled Operation Kick-It at 9 a.m. in the high school gym. The event is sponsored by Lynn County officials Gerald Huffaker and Sheriff Norvell Redwine with the National Honor Society. The Texas Department of Corrections program uses a four-inmate panel, ages 17 to 21, to show the consequences of marijuana possession and drug dealing.
