Tokio-Wolfcamp and nearby fields show oil gains and tests

Completion updates from Tokio-Wolfcamp indicate the J. C. Barnes Drilling Co field produced 208 barrels of 36.5 gravity oil with no water in a 24 hour test and a gas-oil ratio of 415-1 at a depth of 9 825 feet. Three more completions in the Prentice field yielded 252 barrels of 29 gravity oil with 1 percent water and 117.26 barrels of 29.1 gravity oil with no water. other wells reported varied production and acidizing, with drilling still underway across multiple sections in Terry and surrounding counties.

Terry County Enables Emergency Wind Erosion Payments

Terry county has funds for emergency wind erosion control with payments based on listing rows. Loans and purchase agreements will be available after request and before a final date on approval. Grain sorghum must grade 2 or better and be stored in approved storage to qualify for price support of $1.69 per 100 pounds, with eligibility ending February 1, 1955.

Park Bonds and Tax Vote Carry in Carr County Issue

Carr County residents approved a 175000 park improvement bond and a five cent park tax in a light turnout special election. Bond carried 402 141, tax 892 143, with tax decided by 35 votes. County Judge Chesshir called turnout disappointing with 443 voters. Architects Putter Kurmel of Lubbock expect construction to begin in sixty to ninety days. Bond sale set for May 9.

Final Rites Held For Mrs. J. L. Stokes in Brownfield

Funeral services for 72 year old Mrs. J L Stokes of Brownfield were held at 2 p m Thursday at the First Baptist Church. She died Wednesday in Treadaway Daniels Hospital after a short illness after moving to Brownfield from Lovington in 1948. Survivors include two daughters two brothers and a sister with four grandchildren. Active pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were named.

Annual Jr Livestock Show Opens Today

The Terry County Calf and Pig Show opens with about 50 calves and 50 hogs entered. FFA and 4-H members from Terry county prepare under Brownfield Chamber sponsorship, with judging Friday and a district livestock contest Saturday featuring teams from Lubbock Spur and Odessa.

Seventy-Eight Percent of Local Guard Mobilized in Two Hours

The Howitzer Company 2nd Battalion 112th Armored Cavalry Regiment reached seventy eight percent strength within two hours of the alert for Operation Minuteman. Guardsmen from Denver City Seagraves Tahoka Lubbock Brownfield and Abilene reported to the Snyder battalion HQ after an alert call at 6 15 pm. The Brownfield unit coordinated with Snyder and San Antonio while conducting night firing practice at a caliche pit using two jeeps three trucks and two 105 mm howitzers.

First Polio Shots For Terry County Students

First and second graders in Terry county will receive the Salk polio vaccine today. Health Unit teams and Jesse G. Randal School will host sessions with times at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at various sites. Dr. R. E. Johnson assures ample vaccine and no shortage for the program.
