Traffic Fatalities Continue Upward in Texas 1965 Report
Texas Department of Public Safety released a 1965 motor vehicle accident total of 3,028 deaths, 22 more than 1964, with a rate of 5.8 per 100 million vehicle miles. Sheriff Posse Seeks Rooms for Round-Up Riders
With under two weeks until the annual spring round-up of the American Association of Sheriff’s Posse and Riding Clubs, housing is strained. Ray Christopher says 600 to 700 attendees are expected for the four day event, many with campers and trailer houses. The Chamber of Commerce coordinates housing. residents with spare rooms should contact them. The Motel Texan is collecting local host names. The park near the rodeo grounds is reserved for visiting campers. Posse members will meet at the Rodeo Grounds for a work-day and park clean-up. Registration starts 4 p.m. April 28 with a three day program beginning 8:30 a.m. April 29.
