Residents urged to vote for three School Board Trustees with polls open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Courthouse. The piece also notes a Good Friday holiday for most offices and 250 license plates sold that day as citizens race to beat the deadline.
Three county school boards in Meadow Wellman and Union vote Saturday with incumbents facing opposition only in Meadow. Meadow lists three incumbents Clois Sharp R W Horton and H D Moorehead plus five opponents Edgar W Branch Leroy Barrer Melcher Edward Jordan B Wayne Curtis. Other Meadow members not up for reelection are Winfred Tucker Dlane Caswell Raymond Vardeman and Don Day. Election hours 7 a m to 7 p m in Meadow High School gym. presiding judge Tom Verner with clerks Ann Brooks and Mary White. Wellman has ten candidates with both incumbents seeking re election Robert Ham and Glen Baker. other board members include Carl Golden president G L Sullivan Elmo Adair R G Herron Gerald Bevers W H Carmichael presiding judge. voting 8 a m to 7 p m in Wellman High School board room. Services for L A Brown 64 pending at 4 p m Thursday at Church of God with Rev W F Williams presiding. Brown died in Brownfield after coronary failure and lived at 706 S 9th. He farmed near Brownfield and east of Lamesa Road. Burial in Terry County Memorial Cemetery. Survived by wife two sons two daughters one brother one sister and 13 grandchildren.
The 1963 license plates must be affixed by midnight with a final day one day grace period. A record 7 562 plates had been sold by Tuesday including 5 117 passenger cars 1 398 commercial vehicles and 1 056 farm trucks. About 5 225 tags were sold by March 31 1963. The next deadline is April 15 for the 1964 Safety Sticker.

Brownfield Jaycees installed new officers led by President Mark Wyatt in a Monday ceremony at the Party House. Ken Edmonson conducted the service, with Wyatt succeeding John Badgwell as club president and Badgwell becoming a Texas Jaycees director.
Voters in Brownfield Consolidated Independent School District will elect three board members at large on Saturday. Incumbents Billie Moore and James Thurman seek Place 1 and 2 with no opposition. Place 3 is contested by Bill R. Davis and John McFarland. Davis is a local businessman and church member. McFarland and his wife reside on Route 20 with two children in district schools. The poll hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the County School Superintendent office in the Terry County Courthouse.
Lions Clubs from District 2 T 2 and local members urge Crescent City California aid for tidal wave victims after last week’s Alaskan quakes. Donations of clothing furniture funds and articles are collected at Discount Center USA near the courthouse square and will be shipped to Lubbock for central distribution to California.
Brownfield city officials schedule a Thursday 9 am meeting at City Hall with Mayor Jess MtWherter presiding. The session will cover community matters and administrative items.
Brownfield Chamber of Commerce members discussed renewing a request to Congress for a new post office building. Dennis Q Lilly reported the effort remains unaccomplished as of now. The board will send a formal letter to Congressman George Mahon reiterating the request.
Funeral services for Mrs. W W Price 76 are set for 2 p m Thursday at the First Baptist Church with Rov Ed Crow officiating Burial will be at Terry Counts Memorial Cemetery under Brownfield Funeral Home direction She died at Brownfield General Hospital after a long illness Born in Hazel Dell In Gamanche County she attended Mary Hardin Baylor College Belton and taught school from age 15 at Hannibal She was Gomez first primary teacher after moving to Terry County in 1910 She married Ward Price in 1914 and led the Women s Missionary Society for eight years at Brownfield’s church Survived by son Nerner Puerto Rico and daughter Mary Dee Mason Denver City also sister Effie Cooper Brownfield
Local Commerce's annual convention is scheduled for April 11 at the Lincoln Hotel in Odessa with a noon luncheon April 1 featuring Governor John Connally. Directors are urged to attend all or part of the event. Lilly praised the program as outstanding and presented the WTCC Agriculture Committee Report noting a favorable cotton acreage allotment for Terry County. The chamber will send thanks to Love Miller for securing the increased allotment and will hold a Texas Division Highway 385 Association meeting April 25 at Brown Field Country Club. The Highway 82 special report will appear in the May New Mexico Magazine.
