Thursday Club Meetings in Katy Schedule

Royal School District opened with a slight enrollment drop totaling 927 students across four schools down from 940 the previous year. Royal Primary has 225, elementary 168, intermediate 64, and high school grades 7 through 12 with 380 students.

Funeral services for Robert Martin Dalton 87 were held at Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel Brookshire with Reverend Boyd Freeman officiating. Graveside services were conducted in Kyle Cemetery Kyle Texas by Reverend Louis Solomon. Dalton a claim agent for Central Freight Lines was born in San Marcos July 31 1982. He is survived by his mother Delia Dalton of Brookshire son Ronald Dalton of Houston brother Wesley Dalton of Lockhart and several other relatives.

Katy School Enrollment Sees Small uptick to 1537

Enrollment in the Katy school district reached 1537 by noon Tuesday, a rise of 73 from the year-ago period. Of the total, 383 attend Katy High School, 366 Katy Junior High, 496 Katy Elementary, 187 Addicks Elementary and 106 Kilpatrick Elementary, with 40 to 50 more expected by the end of the first six weeks.

Mrs. Willie Sue Cooper 35 died September 4 with services at 2:30 p m Friday at Schmidt Funeral Home. Rev Lowell Howard officiated and burial was in Fulshear Cemetery. She was born February 21 1884 near Brookshire to Georgia Laverne Everett Hoskins and Repps Elam Hoskins and married James D Cooper Sr November 1 1905. She long served as Brookshire post office clerk. survived by son James D Cooper Jr of Houston, a daughter in Austin, a granddaughter and two great grandchildren, a Houston relative Hal Biggers, and nephew Lonnie Ford Hoskins of California.
