Falcon and Marian Colts clash to start the 1969 season on September 12 at 8 00 p m. Last year the teams battled to a 26 26 tie as Royal Falcons prepare after a scrimmage with Weimar and a 1 0 victory by the varsity over Weimar.
The Friendship Garden Club gathers at 9:15 a.m. at Mrs. Melvin Scott’s home with a speaker and guest invites. The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Katy Restaurant with weekly speakers. The City of Katy holds a 1:30 p.m. monthly meeting at the City Municipal Building, followed by a 7:30 p.m. Katy School Board session.
Royal School District opened with a slight enrollment drop totaling 927 students across four schools down from 940 the previous year. Royal Primary has 225, elementary 168, intermediate 64, and high school grades 7 through 12 with 380 students.

Funeral services for Robert Martin Dalton 87 were held at Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel Brookshire with Reverend Boyd Freeman officiating. Graveside services were conducted in Kyle Cemetery Kyle Texas by Reverend Louis Solomon. Dalton a claim agent for Central Freight Lines was born in San Marcos July 31 1982. He is survived by his mother Delia Dalton of Brookshire son Ronald Dalton of Houston brother Wesley Dalton of Lockhart and several other relatives.
The Katy Tigers host Needville in Tiger Stadium to begin the 1969 season. Needville, 8-2 last year, returns 15 lettermen led by QB Charles Ludwig and FB Edgar Oberrender. Katy seeks revenge after a 33-8 loss and faces doubtful starter Tony Harris with probable Katy lineup including Sam Smart, Stuart Taylor, George Schuh, Clay Creech, Frankie Boydston, Tommy Rheman, Paul Goerner, Randy Hamilton, Billy Mores, Johnny Hillhouse, and either David Lovett or David Muse at fullback.
M. J. Dunlap Sr. died at 11 40 pm Tuesday at Northwest Baptist Memorial after a brief illness. Services are pending at Seliegast Kopf.
Lila Thompson was named state president of the Texas Association for Retarded Children. Her daughter Judy serves as state secretary in the teenage division, a volunteer group. Mrs. Thompson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Rapsilver of Brookshire.
Royal Booster Club announces a improved concession stand at Falcon Field and invites members and Falcon fans to help one evening. Dues remain 1.00 per person payable to Mrs. Ed Griffin or Mrs. Melvin Wilson. Contact Mrs. E Turner for volunteering.
Enrollment in the Katy school district reached 1537 by noon Tuesday, a rise of 73 from the year-ago period. Of the total, 383 attend Katy High School, 366 Katy Junior High, 496 Katy Elementary, 187 Addicks Elementary and 106 Kilpatrick Elementary, with 40 to 50 more expected by the end of the first six weeks.
The City of Brookshire invites residents to a public meeting at Royal Primary School on September 18 at 8 00 p m to discuss a bond issue. A separate note announces a $37 000 blind election set for September 20 to buy land and equipment for a sanitary landfill.
The Katy Little League Mothers will elect officers at the Katy Restaurant on Monday September 15 at 7 30 p m All mothers are asked to attend and participate in the meeting.
A Katy Elementary PTA sponsored Parents and Teachers reception will be held next Tuesday September 16 at 8 00 PM in the Katy Elementary Cafetorium. All parents are urged to attend to acquaint with the Katy faculty.
Enrollment will begin for charm poise modeling and self improvement classes at the VFW in Katy starting the first week of October. Mrs Sue Apitz with 20 years in fashion and modeling will teach aided by Millie Lofgren in coordinating and instruction.
Charlie Powell is the Farm Bureau Insurance representative for this area. His office will be in his home at 1210 Avenue A in Katy. Farm Bureau handles all types of insurance. Mr. and Mrs. Powell own their home in Katy. They have five sons named Charles Jr., Bruce, Kevin, Craig and Lee. Mr. Powell would appreciate a call.
Mrs. Willie Sue Cooper 35 died September 4 with services at 2:30 p m Friday at Schmidt Funeral Home. Rev Lowell Howard officiated and burial was in Fulshear Cemetery. She was born February 21 1884 near Brookshire to Georgia Laverne Everett Hoskins and Repps Elam Hoskins and married James D Cooper Sr November 1 1905. She long served as Brookshire post office clerk. survived by son James D Cooper Jr of Houston, a daughter in Austin, a granddaughter and two great grandchildren, a Houston relative Hal Biggers, and nephew Lonnie Ford Hoskins of California.
Max Wander Insurance and Katy Insurance Agency will be closed Saturday September 13 in observance of Rosh Hashana. HDC contributes to Country Store. Katy Home Demonstration Club meets September 15 at Mrs. Marie House’s home with member articles due September 12. Country Store sale set for September 18 at 6111 South West Freeway.
R W Riley Distributing Co opens a Katy facility with a warehouse and offices on Highway Blvd near Katy. The plant manufactures fertilizer distributors for trucks and leases units with or without trucks. Seventy the firm expects Texas produced hoppers.
The Waller County Fair Association led by C. W. Karisch promotes October 10 and 11 events with two days of excitement exhibits and entertainment. Rebuilding stadium arena and exhibit buildings proceeds under Ervin Tiemann via Lipscomb Lumber Company, focusing on safety and appearance as key priorities.

Bob Motheral a Katy High School and Texas University graduate, on leave from the U S Army, reports his stay with his parents before returning to Germany where he will be stationed with the 24 Armored Cavalry Regiment in Nurnberg and Bamberg.
