Katy High School Graduation Week Schedule

Katy High School plans a week of closing activities led by Baccalaureate on Sunday May 21 at 8 p.m. with Rev. A A Watkins delivering the sermon. Dr A Lester Pierce will give the commencement address on Tuesday May 23. twelve boys and twelve girls will receive diplomas from A J Mangum. Celeste Avery is valedictorian and Carolyn Schlipf salutatorian with Ann Wilkinson among honor students.

Monoville Exercises and Commencement Details

Monoville hosts drills at 8 p.m. with Edna Marie Morgan and Joyce Lorene Hartman set to receive diplomas at Friday's commencement at Monoville school. Supt. J G Rogers will introduce speaker James Pattison, Dist. 20 representative, as Mary Brooks sings with Claude Allen.

At the Brookshire PTA meeting led by Mrs R C Waldrip 21 members attended. Mrs Sue Ivy's room won the attendance award and Mrs W D Bains received the door prize donated by Mrs Louis Sturm. After adjournment cookies were served in the cafeteria.

Brookshire Brotherhood Hosts To 157 Members Of Association

The Brotherhood of the First Baptist Church of Brookshire hosted 157 men from the San Felipe Bay Associational Brothers on Monday night. The event included a cafeteria style dinner served by association pastors, appreciation for the school and Miss Alice, and a special thanks to Jim Rose of R and G Cafe for barbecuing chickens free of charge. speaker Lou Plummer, a former wrestler and Notre Dame star, shared a faith testimony after the business session led by President Troy Reynolds.

Doris Southard To Receive B A

Miss Doris Southard daughter of Mr and Mrs Ray Southard of Katy will graduate May 29 with a B A in Biblical Education from Columbia Bible College Columbus S C This will be the largest commencement in the college history Of the 97 graduates 48 men and 36 women will receive the B A degree 9 men and 4 women will receive the M A in Biblical education Two thirds intend to go to the foreign mission field with the remainder entering Christian work at home

Local residents note hospital discharge and visits

Rev. G. Z. Sadler returned home from the hospital by Schmidt Ambulance on Tuesday and is recovering well. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Wison and Ronnie spent Mothers Day with Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Ritchey and Neal came back Monday after a five day trip to Waco Wichita Falls and Palestine.

Local anglers report modest catches during a fishing trip

John Henry Wright and J. D. Worthy returned with over 180 crappie and white bass after fishing with rod and reel using minnows at Buchannan Dam from Wednesday to Sunday. Hugo Seidel fished with Houston friends near Galveston and La Porte last week, logging several fish though not a sea catch.

Booster Club Plans Sunday Chicken Barbecue at Fair Grounds

The 4 H Boosters Club of Waller County plans a Sunday barbecue on May 21 at 1 00 p m at the Fairgrounds to raise funds for 4 H Club work. Chairman Miss Jimmie Rene Ogg says the event supports county youth programs with various team efforts led by club members and coordinators.

Brookshire School presents The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Thursday night at 8 in the school auditorium. Mrs. W D Bains adapted the three act play from the book. Katy 8th Grade Promotion Program Set

Twenty three students will receive certificates at the Katy 8th grade promotion program on Monday evening May 22 in the Katy Auditorium. High ranking students Myra Swogetinsky and Deanie Alston will give addresses. 4 H Club girls presented a dress revue under leader Mrs. J M Buchan an at the Home Demonstration Club meeting hosted by Mrs. George Nelson with County Agent Mrs. Frances Mc Collough. Dresses were judged and winning outfits will enter the Harris County Style Show on May 11 at Sears Auditorium.
