The Senate approved the rural aid measure by 30 to 0, authorizing 4 million dollars annually for rural schools. An amendment to cut the amount to 3 million was rejected 48 to 9, matching the House plan. An amendment trimming $1,000 for county school inspectors passed.

At a meeting of the Eastern Star Chapter, O E. S. elected officers for the coming year. Names listed include Ralph Bray as Worthy Patron, Buddy Muske as Associate Worthy Patron, Mra. Minate McGauhey as Conductress, Mrs. Marie Brau as Associate Conductress, Max Wander as Treasurer, Mrs. Saabel Seidel as Secretary, Mrs. Nora Mills as Chaplain, Ora Mae Muske as Organist, Martha and Mrs. Marie Avis among others.
An informal Witte event lists attendees including Miss Doris Avery, Mrs J B Anderson, Mrs D O Martin, Mrs Hs Ac Chapman, Miss Ora Mae Muske, Miss Mae Buller, and Mrs Rossler. Misses and others were present while one member, Wi, was absent. Cream and cake were served.
Dave Agopian Frank Wells and Dave Landaburgér were in Houston Wednesday. A revival meeting is now in progress under the direction of Reverend Ditto. A comfortable tent has been stretched on the south side of town and services are being held daily. The public is cordially invited to attend.
Reports from Mrs. A B Anderson in St Josephs Infirmary are favorable though she will remain in hospital for some time.
Real estate oil gas and mineral transfers recorded in Hempstead County during the past week include L B Bradbury et al and C P Coleman. Transactions cover leases for 4834 acres in the Wim earty survey and 240 acres with varying considerations totaling around $1. State of Texas deeds relate to 248 acres in the He i Tillows survey costing $162. Sidney M Brookshire and others were visitors Saturday.
