Ira E Tompkins Tax Assessor Collector announces he will seek re election in the Democratic Primary on July 22. He says tax collection has approached 98.5 percent and promises continued efficient courteous service if re elected.
Jimmie Rene Ogg announces candidacy for re election to the office of County Superintendent of Schools in Waller County subject to the Democratic Primary in 1950. He pledges continued diligence under the Foundation School Program as provided by the Gilmer Aikin Laws and asks for votes and support.
Dick Cuny, County Clerk, announces to the voters of Waller County his candidacy for re election subject to the Democratic Primary on July 22 1950. He thanks supporters and pledges to maintain county records efficiently and modernize the Clerk's office.
Pattison School senior and junior classes departed Friday at 3 15 AM for a trip to Matamoros Mexico. They returned via Corpus Christi and the Gulf Coastal region.
Rev G Z Sadler suffered a broken collar bone and rib when a tractor turned over on him while working a road Monday afternoon. His son James saw the incident and aided his father. He was taken by car to Dr Hopkins' office and then by Schmidt ambulance to the Methodist Hospital. George Rheman Jr accompanied them to Houston. Reports Wednesday morning said he was doing very well.
The Catholic Study Club sponsors a cake sale on Saturday May 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bob Avery's Grocery in Brookshire.
A. F. Foster announces candidacy for re-election as District Clerk of Waller County Texas subject to the July Democratic primary. He expresses gratitude for past support and pledges to serve to the best of his ability if voted in.
Sheriff Fletcher announces his candidacy for re election in Waller County citing his experience and deputy support. He stresses crime reduction efforts and a cooperative approach with local and neighboring law officers, asking voters to consider his proven record and commitment to public service.
Betty Byrom will reign as Brenham Maifest queen for its 60th celebration May 12 and 13. Marian Byrom becomes princess of the court and Marilyn Miller serves as royal scepter bearer, with Allan Hohit as king of the night. The coronation theme is Stars in a Summer Sky.
The Katy election will elect two trustees as terms of A. J. Mangum and C. D. Gordon expire. Reelectors A. J. Mangum and C. D. Gordon seek another term. Election judges are H. A. Reaves, Louise Schlipf, and Grace Wilkinson. Voting at Katy Elementary School from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Brookshire Board of Commissioners met April 28 to award contracts for the waterworks system. Texas Water Wells, Inc. wins No.1 well contract. Pittsburg-Des Mines Steel Co. secures No.2 tank contract. W. A. McClendon wins the distribution mains bid. Bert Gassner named head of the Waterworks system.
Brookshire Lions heard Emile Marks recount old prairie days with longhorn cattle and his original poems. He noted prairie improvements and announced the LH7 Ranch Barker 30th annual rodeo and branding contest on May 6 and 7 led by owner Mr. Marks.
Kaiser Frazer Corp will debut three new lines of 1951 Kais er and Frazer cars in Shamrock Hotel from May 7 to May 10. The highlight is the un pierced iced automobile with displays on glass-rope ramps. Jim Rose of Rose Motor Co invites Houston visitors to attend.
Mr and Mrs BE L McCord returned from Oklahoma City where they visited their daughter Mrs W Maddox Jr and family for nine days. Mr and Mrs RB Roark of Tulsa and Mr and Lawrence Roark of Houston visited Mrs Rosella Roark last Sunday.
