Kellner Brick Store Rising on Front Street

A one story brick building 30 by 66 feet is under construction on the Kellner property on Front Street. G D Hensley of Madisonville holds the contract and expects six weeks to complete. E H Martain will operate a grocery and confectionery with modern fixtures including an all electric soda fountain.

Gas Blowout at Davis Tract Destroys Rig

Last Friday night a heavy gas pressure blew in at the Davis tract well prepared by L W Capps for Gulf Production Co. The derrick collapsed and the rig sunk into a sixty foot hole as hot water lime rock and charred wood emerged. The gas bubbled for days while crews salvage what they can and plan further steps.

Miss Catherine Spence a teacher in Goose Creek schools was the charming guest of Mrs. Heidel earlier this week. She taught here a few years ago and has many friends pleased to see her. E. A. Cooper and wife spent Saturday night and Sunday with relatives in Sealy.

Mrs H D Cooper Hosts Aid Meeting

Mrs H D Cooper entertained the Ladies Aid and Missionary Society Tuesday with 18 members present and 9 visitors. Eight members were added. Out of town guests included Mrs Kuntz of San Antonio and Mrs W Thomas of Houston. Committees were formed to finish year plans. Mrs Atkinson led the devotional. refreshments were served.
