Milton Schmidt named Zone Chairman for Brookshire Lions

Milton Schmidt of the Brookshire Lions Club in Texas is invited to serve as Zone Chairman for Region 2 Zone 2 B for 1950 1951. The appointment comes from Harold E. Dreyfus Deputy District Governor Region 2 and recognizes Brookshire Lions Club as an active district group.

Has Beens Softball Team to Be Organized

The Brookshire Has-Beens Softball team will meet for practice and games at Lion's Club Park each Thursday at 7 30 p m. The team is for men past the age of usefulness on the Lion's Club Team. All Brookshire men interested in this exercise should meet at the ball field Thursday night July 6 for the start and election of a manager. Youth Revival Set at Katy Church Led by Rev Emery

Revi Joseph L. Emery former pastor of Goldthwaite First Baptist and current Riverside Baptist Houston will lead Katy First Baptist Youth Revival from July 16 to July 28. Mrs. Joseph B. Tipton will open The Tipton Beauty Salon at the Public Drug Store in Brookshire on Monday July 3. The redecorated shop features soft green walls cream ceiling new linoleum and leaf design monks cloth drapes at the windows and doors. Mrs. Tipton previously worked in Rosenberg and Sealy.

Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Ruth Vining

Mrs Ruth Vining age 68 died at her home in Katy June 22 1950. She was born January 21 1882 in Montgomery County Texas and moved to Waller County in 1889. She taught ten years before marriage to John W Vining on September 18 1909. After his death she moved to Katy in 1932 and remained active in Baptist churches. Burial was in Waller cemetery after a 10 am service at First Baptist Church Katy.

Ada Carmichael Installed President of B and P W Club

Ada Carmichael was installed as president of the Brookshire Business and Professional Women's Club at a June 27 informal gathering hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Billy Harrison. Officers installed included Grace Richardson, Sally Sadler, Hazel Bains, Anna Martin, and Helen Sandel. The group crowed with a barbecue dinner by Brazos River and highlighted year projects raising funds for a community building, movie projector equipment, clean-up week with Lions Club, and a white rag drive for the Cancer Hospital.
