Local Dairymen Recognized In Month Of June
June is Dairy Month and local dairies receive recognition for the hard work of American dairy farmers. The South Texas Producers Association hosts the deposit point for many local dairies with En Scholz's on Clay Road highlighted. Summer Program Attracts 52 Trophies At Katy Fair
Katy Schools summer program draws over 1100 weekly swimmers across two pools with 760 weekly attendance at the High School pool and 400 at Kilpatrick pool plus 75 to 80 daily in the beginners classes. The three nights attendance at the High School gym totals 225 last week. The 3rd Precinct 4-H Fair and Horse Show is set for June 23 at the Katy FFA grounds with 52 trophies awarded for grand champions, showmanship, and class winners across divisions.

The Brookshire-Katy Drainage District will hold a special election on Tuesday June 27 at the Brookshire Municipal Building from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. Voters will decide an increase in the maintenance and operation levy from 10 cents to 25 cents per $100 valuation, part of the district plan created five years ago which set 35 cents per $100 for maintenance and operation and bond retirement.
