Katy FFA Barbecue Nets Funds for New Bleachers
The Katy FFA barbecue on Saturday April 26 drew about 600 attendees and raised 360.05 after expenses. Donations included grand champion steer from Earl MacMillan and an Angus calf from Christiana bought for the event. Proceeds will fund new bleachers at the rodeo arena.

Homemaking Open House Showcases First Year of Home Economics
Brookshire Colored High School’s homemaking department held an open house to cap its first year. The cottage exhibit featured food and clothing displays with a lush spring flower arrangement. Highlights included sewing, handwork, seven basic food groups, and garden-sourced foods.
Seventh graders exhibit handicraft titled miniature furniture
The seventh grade class presented an exhibit highlighting handicraft skills with items such as miniature furniture and a rag rug.
Hol land Exhibit Highlights Homemaking Project At School
A school year exhibit by the home making class showcased a Holland themed display as a class project. Guests including the city superintendent of schools and several local residents attended, receiving serving help from students and enjoying fruit punch and cookies. The event drew positive comments and the school plans improved efforts for next year.
