Pattison Vaccinates Dogs. Extra Round Set for June 38

Douglas Whatley reports thirty three dogs vaccinated last Saturday in Pattison. Many dogs were not brought, so an additional vaccination session is planned for Saturday morning June 38 between 8:30 and 12:00 at the Pattison school workshop. A minimum fee will cover expenses per W. C. Norris.

Brookshire Takes Ownership of Waterworks on June 1

City of Brookshire now owns the waterworks effective June 1 as stated by George Harrison. Harrison has supplied Brookshire water for twenty years and notes all bills through May are due.

PTA Study Club Holds Final Session in Brookshire

The Brookshire PTA Study Club met in the closing session at the home of Mrs. Andrew Highrabedian on May 16, 1950. Mrs. Lester Williams spoke on Do Manners Count concluding that good manners express friendliness and consideration for others. Fourteen members received certificates for hours spent studying parent teacher relations. Members praised the benefit of the study and association. Mrs. Highrabedian provided a sandwich and cold drinks.

Seventeen Month Old Child Drowns In Horse Trough

Daniel Leroy Svach aged 17 months drowned in a horse trough at the Bennie Miller farm on a Thursday afternoon May 25. The child was recovered and taken to Brookshire where a Resuscitator failed after one hour and forty five minutes. Survivors include parents Ed and Mrs Svach sister Judy La Verne Svach and grandparents Albert Mitcham Earnestine Svach. Funeral at Bennie Miller home with Rev. Lee Miller officiating, interment Pattison cemetery.

Public Drug Store Re Opens In Brookshire

Mrs. Cornelia Bains reopens the Public Drug Store Saturday in Brookshire at the old location. Clarke's Pharmacy occupied the building the past year. The store displays gifts drugs and cosmetics on new white shelves and offers ice cream malted milks sundaes and soft drinks.

Plane Service Boosts Rice Planting With Aerial Top Dressing

Rice farmers hire Plane Service for top dressing using Vertigreen and 16-2-0 fertilizers. Gene Hoyt flooded a 40 acre field for planting by plane earlier this year and reports a good stand. David Southard spread 2-4-0 to weed rice fields. Boynton Flying Service works with Katy Feed Store, keeping planes stationed in Katy for quick service.

4 H Booster Barbecue Serves 250 in Benefit Event

The 4 H Booster Chicken Barbecue at the Fair Grounds drew 250 club members and friends for a fundraiser supporting Waller County 4-H youths. Miss Ogg chaired the event praising volunteers and noting an educational trip to Austin and nearby Cavern and Buc Dam on July 26 27 28 as a rewards program for qualified members.

Katy Mayor Among Harris County Guests at Washburn Tunnel Opening

Katy Mayor Arthur Miller joined Harris County mayors on the Galena Park side of the Ship Channel for the $8,000,000 Washburn Tunnel opening ceremony on May 27. Roy Hofheinz spoke, ribbons were cut, guests rode through the tunnel to Pasadena, met by Glen McCarthy and Lum Abner, with Fred Gray among Pasadena Chamber officials. The event ended with a barbecue at the Texas Co Country Club.

The first shire Lions Club softball game in Brookshire ended Pattison 12 Waller 9. Mikeska fanned 10 for Pattison while Smith struck out 2 for Waller. Pattison committed 6 errors to Waller 5. game lasted 1 hour 36 minutes with umpires Moebes Stephan Youngblood. Next game set for Friday June 2 between W F W and Katy. crowd urged to attend.
