The Katy Rotary Club sponsored the 3rd annual Tree of Light ceremony Saturday drawing a nice crowd. Rev Derwood Blackwell gave the invocation and Major Miller welcomed attendees. A quartet sang Christmas selections and Santa arrived with goodies for children.
Gov Jester appointed a committee to study Texas election laws and recommend changes. Judge Winfree calls a 9:00 a.m. December 28 meeting of county election officials at the County Judge’s office. Other interested citizens may attend and share views.
The Katy Tigers lost the Hempstead tournament final to Hempstead after beating Klein in the opener and Spring Branch in the afternoon round. Mahlon Swogetinsky Hy Ed Hood and Murphy DeGauges Hawkins of Hempstead were named to the all tournament team alongside players from Klein Walker and Somerville.

The Sealy parish calendar lists a 7:00 a.m. Christmas Eve Mass on Sunday December 24. Fr Urbanovsky will lead the holiday services with Masses at 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. on Christmas Day.
The Brookshire Methodist church hosts a Christmas program Thursday with a tree titled Ole Santa. Beginners to Junior Sunday School classes perform, featuring Marilyn Leggett Jimmy Griffin Charlotte England Patricia Muske Jackie Donald Tommy Shearer and Herbie Stalknecht in special parts. Junior choir girl quartet boys quartet and piano by L W Bains round out the program. Rev G Z Sadler invites the public.
Pattison Methodist Church invites the public to a Christmas program featuring a ceremonial tree lighting on Thursday night December 23 at the church. The event aims to celebrate the season with residents of Pattison and nearby areas.
William George Washington died early Sunday December 19. Funeral services were conducted at Pattison cemetery Monday at 2 p.m. Rev G Z Sadler officiated. Schmidt Funeral Home directed. He is survived by a son Richard Washington.
Two Harris County farm boys Fred die Hoyt and Glen Thompson join twenty five peers for a two week expense paid trip to Venezuela aboard a ship carrying dairy stock. They will tour seven days with the government and return by air via Havana Cuba, one stop en route. Freddie chosen as a 4 H boy, Glen by Honorary FFA members after evaluating all applicants.
P T A members gathered Wednesday December 15 at 3 00 p m in Mrs J D Woods home to hear Little Widgets Have Big Needs by Mrs Geo Rheman Jr assisted by Mrs W D Bains. Twelve members attended and refreshments followed with piano rendition of Silent Night.

The Katy Rotary club will hold its Christmas party today at noon. Christmas carols will be sung by a junior girls quartet. Ole Santa will distribute gifts to each member under the tree.
Katy girls played in a Houston tournament held by Bob Scale Auto Co. Seven high school and three commercial teams competed. The commercial teams won all three trophies. Katy beat LaMarque 15 1 and 15 4 in their first matches before losing to Bob Seale's team.
Byron McCauley and Wood rowed Mikeska captured an eight foot alligator at Sals Lake on the C M Frost "4" Ranch last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ebel and son from California visit for the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Ebel. Mr. B Ellis of Rose Ellis Motor Co. handles all repair work in his shop and will personally take on any job.
Mrs. R. R. Pattison recovers from a minor operation and expects to be home this week. Mr. C. F. Trettin recovers from a major operation. Mr. J. Pattison remains a medical patient.
The Gaynes Hardware and Appliances announce this week that they will have television after the first of the year.
Fra Jean Deal of Waller enrolls at Southwest Texas State Teachers College as the student body reaches 1800, the highest figure in the college’s history.

The State Highway Commission in Ft Worth last week closed session approved most of the Houston Eagle Lake cut off as a farm to market road and designated Farm to Market Road 359 from Pattison North seven miles. Also slated for Austin, Fort Bend and Waller counties are farm to market road improvements with mileage totals 19.4, 18.8 and 13.7 respectively.
The Katy Eagles placed six players on the All District 33-B team selected by coaches at Hempstead. Unanimous picks were Mahlon Swogetinsky and Jim Morgan, with Bobby Mellroy the lone dissenter. Most honorees were seniors. Fred Weisner was a junior. F G Garrett returned home for the weekend after moving from Austin to Center. Several Pattison residents including Mrs Roy Hammerling and sons visiting Houston to see Santa and Mr and Mrs Sam Garrett remodeling their home. Visitors from Chicago Elmer Moon and others joined a family Christmas gathering with Rev and Mrs R B Moon on December 19 in Pattison.
Mr and Mrs O M Redus attended the annual Christmas dinner party hosted by Mr and Mrs Julius Epstein for Worth Electric Supply Co employees at the Empire Room on Saturday night.
